It is often easier to talk to someone who is not involved in your life to get another perspective. Counselling offers a safe, confidential place for you to talk about anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. It allows you to talk with someone who is trained to listen attentively and to help you improve things.

It is a very personal process and sometimes it is necessary to talk about painful feelings or difficult decisions, so you may go through a period of feeling worse than when they started. However, counselling should enable you to feel better in the long-run.

Counselling helps a person to understand their motivations and actions. It can also lead to improved communication and understanding of other people.

cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is one of the leading talking therapies. There is a large evidence base that suggests that this type of therapy is very effective at helping to reduce stress, anxiety and depression.

CBT can help us make changes in the way we think (cognitive) and the way we act (behaviour). Making small changes in one of these areas will affect other areas and can help us better manage our stresses and improve our mood.

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) approaches are helpful in dealing with problems such as:

  • unhelpful thinking - jumping to conclusions, mind-reading what others are thinking and coming to negative conclusions without evidence
  • unhelpful behaviours - avoiding situations, reassurance seeking, poor problem solving and organisational skills
  • negative physical sensations - tension in muscles, panic attacks, dizziness, palpitations, restlessness

CBT cost

Cognitive behavior therapy can be purchased in a block of 6 sessions (lasting one hour) for £300 (£50 per session).

We currently have limited availability for the cognitive behaviour therapy service. For more information please get in touch and mention 'Resolve'.
